IntlMOVE has put together a list of activities for you and your family to enjoy when moving overseas.

Moving to Athens can be quite the adventure.

The Parthenon

When you first move to Athens, you will undoubtedly want to visit the Parthenon.

Construction for this wonder of the ancient world began in 447 BC and it was completed in 438 BC.

Some even say this is the most important surviving building of ancient Greece.

This building was built as a temple for the Greek goddess Athena.

Monastriraki Flea Market

On Sundays, this market turns into something more of a traditional flea market with people laying out blankets and selling all sorts of trinkets, treasures and maybe even some junk!

Even if you are not in the mood to purchase anything, you can come down to this area on Sundays to enjoy some fantastic people watching.

During the week, Monastriraki Flea Market is a street full of shops, clothing stores, tourist stores and a wide variety of other shops that make this area of Athens very unique.

The Agora-Athens Central Market

When you move to Athens and want fresh meat or fish to cook for dinner, visit the Agora-Athens Central Market.

You can get meat and fish for a very inexpensive price.

If you visit the market and get hungry just looking at all the food, don’t worry because there are plenty of restaurants that have delicious food to serve.

This street is also the beginning of Chinatown and Eolou Street, which is the pedestrian shopping area.

When you move to Athens with IntlMOVE, this market is a great place to visit to see some of the local culture.

Mount Lycabettus

When you have a morning or an afternoon free, take a trek up Mount Lycabettus for a great view of Athens.

At the top of the mountain, there is a café to get something to eat after your weary travels uphill.

There is also an amphitheatre so you can enjoy some outdoor entertainment.

Luckily there is a train that will take you to the top if you are not in the mood for exercise.

The Plaka

When you move to Athens, you can leave your winter gear at home because the city is warm almost all year.

When you have a lot of warm days and nights, you can take advantage of the weather by finding a lot of things to do outside.

This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Athens with plenty to see and lots of things to do.

There are great restaurants with outdoor seating and lots of shops as well.

If you are into history, there are plenty of Greek and Roman ruins throughout this area of the city.

The Plaka is also equipped with the famous Brettos distillery.

The Temple of Poseidon at Sounion

Overlooking the sea, there is a beautiful temple that was built for Poseidon.

Poseidon was God of the Sea, so the beautiful location is fitting.

There is a beach just below the temple that is perfect for swimming or just catching some rays.

Visit the temple when the sun is setting for a truly breathtaking view of the sea and sun.

There is plenty to do and see in Athens, so your international move will be a lot of fun and filled with great experiences.

When you are ready to move to Athens, contact IntlMOVE to ship all of your household good.
